Case Study 1: Castlefields, Prudhoe

cs1 The Castlefields estate is a large development of over 500 new homes built by Bellway, Leech, Persimmon and Barratt during the last five or so years. Castlefields is typical of many new housing developments planned in the 1990s but with one exception: incorporated within the scheme are several areas of low-cost rented flats and houses developed for local people in need of housing - 54 properties in total.

Careful attention at the design stage has made it impossible to identify which are for sale and which are for rent. This means that households on the estate are valued as individuals and not viewed by the tenure of home they live in.

The estate is extremely popular and in high demand. Also, resident surveys have shown very high levels of satisfaction.
