Sustainable Homes

The Homes & Communities Agency has declared that all new affordable homes built with funding from the 2008-2011 bidding round must comply with Level 3 of the Code For Sustainable Homes. The benefits of meeting the standards set out in the Code include:

Reduced greenhouse gas emissions

There are minimum standards for energy efficiency at each level of the Code. Therefore there will be a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, thus reducing the threat of climate change.

Better adaptation to climate change

All affordable housing built by Isos in the future will benefit from higher standards in water efficiency, e.g. better management of surface run-off. Our homes will be better suited to coping with the impacts of climate change.

Reduced impact on the environment overall

Isos promotes the use of less-polluting building materials and encourages the recycling of household waste. In future our homes will have fewer negative impacts on the environment.
