Is a new initiative that can help people on lower incomes buy a new house or flat at discounted prices.
The Government is working with major house builders who are offering affordable new homes and Isos are the government's HomeBuy agent responsible for administering the scheme. In the North East there are 12 house builders across 53 developments, providing around 1,900 homes.
How it works ...
The FirstBuy scheme offers a loan of up to 20% of the property's value so you usually only need to find 80% through mortgage and savings and the loan is interest free for the first 5 years!
Most lenders ask for a deposit, the minimum deposit is usually 5% of the purchase price. The scheme is mainly aimed at social housing tenants, MOD personnel and first time buyers.
