Isos' new home in Prudhoe is set to open for business on Monday, April 16th. The brand new £1.6m Spetchells Centre will be a base for Isos in the town, in a building shared with various services provided by Northumberland County Council and other partners including the building’s developer Prudhoe Community Partnership and the town council.

Isos customer service staff will move directly across to the Spetchells Centre while the housing management staff currently based in the Prudhoe office will now be spending more time on the road seeing customers in their homes. Their office base will now be in Hexham.

Residents will still be able to pay their rent in the new office, using their bank card, but cash payments will now only be accepted at PayPoint outlets.

There are currently six PayPoint outlets in Prudhoe with four in the town centre, and two at either end of the town.

Isos is also encouraging more of its residents to pay safely and securely by direct debit.

The Spetchells Centre has been designed to sit at the heart of the Prudhoe community, and allow customers to access a wide range of services in one central location.

The building has been financed by charitable grants and a Communitybuilders loan.

Richard Tate, customer services manager for Isos, said: “We have been aware for some time that our existing office in Prudhoe was not ideal accommodation for our needs and the opportunity to be part of this new project is very attractive. We will be able to look after our customers in a much better environment whilst working in close partnership with the other agencies at the centre.”

“We know some of our residents appreciate being able to pay their rent in cash, so that facility will still be available through PayPoint, but we also hope to encourage more payment by direct debit.

“This will improve security both for our staff and for residents not needing to carry cash.”

The Spetchells Centre has been designed by award-winning architects Mosedale Gillatt and built by Northern Construction Solutions Limited.

Rev. Charles Hope, Chairman says “Prudhoe Community Partnership is delighted to welcome Isos Housing into our new building. We feel their addition to the services on offer will truly make the Spetchells Centre a one stop shop for information, advice and guidance.”
