Carer's Allowance (CA) is paid if you provide care for 35 hours a week or more to a person who receives Disability Living Allowance care component at the middle or high rate, or Attendance Allowance.
Claiming CA can affect the benefits of the person you care for so advice needs to be taken before making the claim.
CA is stopped completely if you earn too much money from work (currently £100 per week).
Claim forms can be obtained from your local Jobcentre, online at www.directgov.uk Opens in a new window or by phone on 01253 856123.
