Looking after your home

Can I make alterations to my home?

If you’re going to make any improvements or alterations to your home – a new shower, light fitting or driveway for example – you need to get in touch with us first. We will usually give you the go-ahead, but please don’t make a start until you’ve had a letter from us saying it’s ok.

Can I decorate my home?

Yes! We want you to keep your home spic and span inside. Before you start you can brush up your skills with us – we often run workshops for residents that teach plastering, painting and more. We'll advertise any upcoming courses on our website.

When will you update my home?

Isos carries out a regular repair schedule to all homes, updating the likes of kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors and boilers. To find out when your home is due for an upgrade you can visit our Planned Maintenance page and download our leaflet. When your property is due to have planned work carried out we will be in touch two weeks before it is set to start.

Will you service my heating?

Gas – by law we have to check that all gas appliances and pipework is checked once a year. It is really important that you allow us access to complete these checks. If you suspect a gas leak call the National Grid immediately on 0800 111 999. For more information see our Gas Service leaflet on the right of this page

Oil and solid fuel – Isos will inspect your oil appliances once a year and solid fuel heating systems once every six months to make sure they’re working safely. If you think your heating system isn’t working properly open doors and windows for ventilation and call us on 0300 300 1505. For more information see our Oil and Solid Fuel leaflet on the right of this page.

Electric heating – We don’t carry out annual checks on electric heating, as a rule they don’t need it. If you do have a problem with electric heating though don’t hesitate to give us a call on 0300 300 1505.

My home has condensation – can you help?

Condensation happens when warm air meets a cold surface – like when a bathroom mirror steams up if you have a shower. We get lots of calls about damp and condensation, particularly in the winter months, but there are simple things you can do to reduce it yourself. To find out more you can read our Condensation and Mould leaflet on the right of this page.

Is my home insured?

Isos has its own insurance on all of our properties, but this does not cover the contents inside. If, for example, you live in a flat and a pipe burst in the flat above, the contents of your home would not be covered unless you have your own insurance. Isos can help you get contents insurance for a reasonable price –  visit our Contents Insurance page.

Fire safety

If you move into an Isos property it will have a smoke alarm installed and Isos will test it annually. Do take the time to test yourself though – if there is a fire it could save your life.

If you live in a high-rise building, a block of flats or a sheltered scheme special fire procedures will be in place – you will be told about these when you move in

If there’s anything else you need to know give our customer services team a call on 0300 300 1505 or email
